Job Roles and Responsibilities

As there are three of us we have decied to split the roles, some of them will be shared between us.  The resposnsibilities i am in charge of are:

• Making sure we dont go over budget
• Telling the actors what they will be doing
• keeping everyone on check for the schedule

I have chosen to do these because i believe i am able to find what we need at the lowest costs and i am able to instruct people with what they are meant to be doing and if they dont understand i have the patients to explain in a calm mannor and i will listen to the actors needs aswell.  Lastly i have chosen to keep everyone on check by making sure we stick to the shooting schedule i  will be able to make sure everyone is doing hwat they are mean to and that no one falls behinde and i am a good motivator.

Production log 7

What have you contributed this week?
Week 7 is the deadline, we had to make sure everything had been edited and looked good where it was, we also had to make it cut to the beat and look professional. 

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project (refer to already posted work)
This worked well with the production schedule as we finished everything we had hoped we would by the end of it including the video cutting to the beat, close ups and a clear story line.  We had to make some of the shots shorter as the song ran on a bit and it also meant it looked better as it fitted nicely.  

Where there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?
Whilst refilming it was trying to find out when our actors were free as some of them also needed to do their own work and it meant having to work round them and still making sure we got our work done but apart from that everything was fine.  

What are your plans for the following week?
As the deadline was this week it means we have finished filming and editing but i will look back over the work i have done and make sure it is done correctly and everything is there.

What have you contributed this week?
This week we had a mock deadline which we had people give us feedback on our video saying what we could add, tack away and refilm, most of the things said to be refilmed were what we had planned and the feedback we got was helpful as we knew what our audience thought of it so that we could make it appeal to more people.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project (refer to already posted work)
This was useful as we could see if people agreed on what we wanted to refilm and also if they could understand the story line.  The close ups were a major thing to add as we reply on the close ups to get across the emotions of the actors so the audience can feel apart or even relate in a believable way.

Where there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?
The only problem that we had was trying to find a house to film the party in.  We knew we couldn't mess around and that every moment spent looking for a house was less filming time but we managed to find a house which was close and meant that people didn't have to travel far to get there.  

What are your plans for the following week?
The plan for next week is to refilm the rest of what needs to be filmed and to edit what we have filmed.  

Production log 5

What have you contributed this week?
During week 5 i helped edit the start of the video and put my suggestions forward for what may needed to be refilmed.  I also had a small part in someone else's Media work as the friend of the main girl.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project (refer to already posted work)

This fits in well the the production schedule as we now have less to edit and so far we know roughly what we have to refilm and how we can improve it rather than just wasting time by filming it the same way we did before.

Where there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?
The only problems we faced this week was making sure the shots looked ok where they were and whether something needed to be refilmed then agreeing on it.

What are your plans for the following week?
Next week we plan on refilming the bits that need refilming and to continue to edit what we have so when we have the new footage it looks ok and makes sense in the video.

Production log 4

What have you contributed this week?
In the fourth week we managed to complete filming and start editing, this meant we had to import all of the footage we had filmed and put it into Final Cut Pro.  

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project (refer to already posted work)
We were on track with our production schedule as we could now start to edit our work and and find out what needed to be refilmed as it didnt work or it wasnt long enough etc.   We quickly discovered that we needed to add more close ups to portray the emotions that are mentioned in the song and buy our actors.

Where there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?
The only problems we faced was whilst editing, although we had enough shots we didnt have long enough clips of each or enough close ups which meant we had to do our best to make it look ok then refilm when we go the chance. 

What are your plans for the following week?
The plan for next week is to continue editing to make sure that what we have at the moment cuts to the beat and looks to be at the highest standard. 

Production log 3

What have you contributed this week?

In week three i have helped with filming and filling out some paperwork to do with locations and some extra people that we have added to our filming.  

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/overall ideas of the project? (refer to the already posted work)

During week three we began to film our music video we decided to film the boys when the main boy is sad and the girls with the main girl being happy.  as we had decided to film as much as possible in that week we also filmed the date with the boyfriend and his new girlfriend.  

Were there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?

The problems we faced weren't difficult to overcome, some people turned up late for filming but it was fine as it didn't affect the filming as badly as it could have and it was trying to stay focused when having to stand outside whilst filming with members of the public getting in the way.  

What are your plans for next week?

The plan for next week is to continue filming what is left on the script so that when we go to edit we will have all the shots we need.  

Production log 2

What have you contributed this week?
This week I had to make sure that all the waiver for cast were filled in by the people who are taking part in the video.  I also started my part of the shooting script. 

How does this fit in with the production schedule/ job roles/ overall ideas of the project? ( refer to already posted work)
I started my part of the shooting script this week and i was in charge of the ending of the script, as we split it into three parts we were all allocated a section.  I choose the ending because i thought that was the part i had a clear vision of what i wanted it to look like and i knew how to get the song's meaning across.  

Were there any problems? How did you/will you overcome them?
We had a couple a problems but we managed to resolve them quickly.  Not all the paper work was done at the same time which meant some people had some of the work but others didn't have anyone but their own work on blogger.  It didn't take long to sort out we just had to make sure we emailed each other to give everyone the work and then put it on blogger.  When we were writing our scripts we had to make sure that we stopped in the right place and that it made sense when changing from the first shooting script to the second and the second to the third.  

What are your plans for the following week?
My plan for the following week is to finish filling out the call sheet so we know when we are filming and to start filming as we would have completed the call sheet which shows us when we are filming and where.

Westfield was the only place we had to ask for persmission to film however we werent given permission and had to find somewhere else to film.  We didnt have to ask anywhere else for permissions to film which meant there was no complications.

What have you contributed this week?

During the past week I have been in charge of asking people if they would like to be in the video and making sure they sign the sheet needed, I completed this on my own as the group and I decided that I would be in charge of asking people to sign the consent form.  I also helped with filling out the sheet that says our story as it is mainly my idea I don't want to just have my own ideas so we all agreed on adding in our own ideas.  

How does this fit in with the production schedule/ job roles/ overall ideas of the project? (Refer to already posted work)

The production schedule shows use what needs to be done and for when, completing what we did (the plan and the waiver for cast) means that we can go ahead and film on time and we won’t need to keep getting peoples permission whilst filming.  Completing the plan means that we can all see what our video will roughly look like and it informs other people of what they may need to be acting in.  

Were there any problems? How did you/ will you overcome them?

The only problem we had that couldn't be helped was one of our team members was ill but we met up with them the next day and confirmed what we had done while they were away and they were ok with what we decided and we changed a few things but overall everything was fine.  

What are your plans for the following week?

For the following week we will finish the plan for our filming days and the filming schedule.  Finishing these will be more helpful than anything else as we need to make sure we know when we are filming and what scenes are being filmed on what days.

Pitch Reflection

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give anymore detail on?
Although i explained what i would like my video to look like I feel like i didn't explain it enough.  In my video i would have some of the lyrics shown in the video but most of it i would like to look at the lyrics and make my own judgment on them.  I would cut to beat as this would keep the audience's focus and make it look more professional.  Some of the locations i will use i need permission to film there but places like a park and a house i wouldn't need permission as a park is a public lace however if a member of the public comes into shot whilst filming i will have to ask if they don't mind or i can just re-film, and using a house i will only need one or two rooms which shouldn't be a problem as people wont always be in them rooms or i could ask them to leave.  In the feedback i was given advice on what i could use the green screen for and i liked the sound of having it play things that relate to to the main actors in the relationship as it makes a bit more interesting rather than just having the audience watch the band perform who don't have much relevance to the video.  

What did your audience identify as your strengths of your music video idea? 
When i was given feedback there were a lot of question due to the fact that i wasn't very good at explaining what i meant.  but i wasn't asked about the things i was going to have in my video as in why i chose what i did, i also wasn't asked why i chose the locations and song.  I think i wasn't asked about these because i explained why i was going to use them, for the song i said i liked the lyrics as i could use them to help make the video and the locations as i said what i was going to use them for and why i chose them.  

What did your audience identify as areas for improvement?
Someone asked me why I was going to use an Asian as my main actor when my target audience said white, i was then told that i would suit the roll better and i should play it when it comes to filming, I was also asked if i would consider using the band for the house party rather than using them as two separate things.  

What changes will you make to your music video concept based on the feedback you received?
When i come to filming i will change several things to make it more interesting to my audience.  I found the feedback very useful as the people who asked questions would be people who would watch my video.  I will change the main actress as people may not watch as they wouldn't relate to the video, i will use the band for the house party and finally i will use the green screen to show things that have something to do with the couple in the video.  I will make these changes so more people would want to watch the video and to hopefully make my video look more professional suiting the 99dollarmusicvideos.

Creating my artists identity

The Colours

About my artists: The Colours are 3 men, Tom Pickford - Vocals, Keys, Guitar.  Tom Newman - Bass, Synthesizers, Backing Vocals.  Tony Folland - Drums, Sequencing, Percussion.  They all come from Reading, England, and all share the same passion for music.  They have been together for a while now and are currently doing a tour of the UK.

The target audience for my band will be people aged between 17 to 25 as the things they sing about people between them ages may be able to relate to the songs.  People living in the UK, not just in Reading but people outside of reading would also be likely to listen to their music.

                                                      Clothing

The clothing I have chosen is very casual, I have chosen casual clothing as people around the age of 17-25 don’t all wear suits and dress like business people.  I would like to have my actors wearing something similar to these, for the boys when they aren’t at a party I have chosen casual chinos or jeans, a check inform shirt as I think it adds class it keeps it from being Sunday best I have also put down converse as these show that the outfit isn’t meant to look posh, I may get the boys to maybe wear bracelets.  For a party I would have the boys wearing similar sorts of things but I would make it a little bit formal but still have jeans and converse.  I would have this because I think that this would make it a little different rather than spending all day in casual clothing and then partying in casual clothing.  For the girls I would do the same sort of thing casual for everyday and smart casual for partying.  For the girls when walking around the house or not going anywhere important they will be wearing joggers or leggings with a hoodie or jumper and when they go out with friends or as a couple they can wear jeans and a t-shirt, and they can wear whatever jewellery they like.  For parties they can wear a dress with jewellery that looks more expensive.

 

Typography







 

For typography I would like in certain parts of it to be really sweet and girly as I think because this video is aimed more towards girls I think that it would suit it.  I would also use very bold writing as I this way it may show that thy are arguing, another thing I thought of was to use sms bubbles so the audience can see what they are texting.  I would also consider using a mixture as this could show that the male s confused about what is going on.  Lastly I would like to use comical writing to show that she may just be taking the relationship as a joke when she is flirting with another boy. 

Locations, objects, and lighting

The locations i have chosen fit my video well as i have more than one location and the hings that i would like to happen in my video go well with the locations i have chosen.  Forexample i have chosen a house as i can use the livingroom to have a party which is where the boy notices where everything has gone wrong and he does something about it.  I can use the stiars for the girl sitting reflecting on what she has done and feel sad about it and finally i can use the bed room for them two arguing during the party.  I would like to have bright areas for whnen everthing is going fine and they are happy in the relationship and darker places for when evrthing goes and wrong and she has been found out.  I have also chose london and a shopping centre for the locations of when the couple are going out and they are happy togeter and i have also chosn them for when the main girl and her friends go out and the girl flirts with boys that she sees and for after when she feels alone.  For objects i cose balloons for the party as that is a very good identification of a party and the guitar and drums are also for the party because whe you think of parties you think of music. 

Colours







Blue is a calimg colour and I want some places to be calm because its saying that although in his head he is all confused, frustrated and angered he would like to be able to think clearly again.  In the song they are angry at each other it is important that we actually see them argue even though we wont be able to hear them argue, we will still be able to see them.  I also put happy because in a relationship you should be happy and enjoy spending time with  each other rather than wanting to be as far away from each other as you can get.  Red is an angry colour and i think this would be good to have in certain parts of my video for when the couple are arguing and being angry.  Yellow is a bright and happy colour so it would fit well with the locations where they are happy and the relationship is fine by showing the happy feeling that i want the video to start out as.  Green insinutes nature which is also calming and gentle, i would use yellow and green together as when they are happy his mind can be calm and clear.  I chose pink because pink is sometimes thought of when you think of love and as they are in a relatinship although it is crumberling they were happy at one point.

I chose this picture because i thought it would be a good thing to have in my video.  I wanted to have a house party to make it different rather than just having the usual things seen in a love song.  Then listening to the song although you dont hear about them being happy i think i would like them to be happy during the video because i think that it woud be important to know why they broke up in the first place.  As the song is about heartbreak i thought it would be a good idea to see them in a happy relationship then them breaking up.  I wold like to have a band in my video because i think it would change things and make it look a bit cooler, plus i think it would be important to see more than just two people in the video. 

My last two pictures are of a heart container from the legend of zelda, i have put this because the boy in the relationship may feel like his heart is now no longer complete because of the break up.  I have also put a eternity symbol because when they were in the relationship they were happy and it felt like they were going to be that for forever.
